A Day In The Sun

I’m happy that the sun today finally calms the storm. In the bright warm air of morning I am able to work with a cheery mood in my sun-swept hair, white floral top, and comfy pair of flats. I would say it’s quite a breather. For 2 days in a row, everything grew dark with storm clouds as Bagyong Basyang tore through the metro. Today’s business as usual, but for some people, it’s a depressing fact that  means yesterday’s break is over and today is a time to work and study once again. But shouldn’t we instead grieve for something more depressing than that? Remember, there are about 20 Filipinos who died after Typhoon ‘Basyang’ (international codename: Conson) ripped across the Philippines. This I think (and realized from yesterday’s post as well), is seemingly more heinous than your complaint of “may pasok na naman” and the wind and rain rattling the windows.

On a related note: the MRT reeked last night as usual.

People got restless of the fact that there was not one train readily available for everyone to jump in, and Manong guard, who was supposed to direct us commuters properly in the process, even worsened the situation by transferring us to the wrong trains. Ugh, I wasn’t able to attend my dance classes  because of that BTW.

Good thing on one thing though (lol whattachoice of words?) : as someone who commutes in the afternoon on a daily basis since god-knows-when, I have learned this thingy called anger management when dealing with all sorts of annoying people inside the train. For reasons that:

  1. You’ll get there anyway. At your destination. In less than 15 mins.
  2. You’re building up your patience because you know well enough that just like yourself, this people are in a hurry.
  3. Or maybe you’re not, but then again in your view, patience is a virtue.
  4. Arguing  is such a waste of energy and time. You’re wasted enough for the day, so why waste yourself even more so?

Unless you’re anything like me, all of these may not be applicable to you. But you better believe it when I say shoving people around in the MRT, shouting at god-knows-who-is that blocks your way, and bumping with whoever you like are not worth all the argument, energy, and effort. For world peace, of course, I would rather just silently fume, LOL, or tweet about it.
