Lace It Up And Dance

Make-up, rehearsing, PERFORMING a broadway dance with Amanda Page during a Metro Manila film fest awards night, back-up dancing for Marian Rivera, Bella Padilla, Jolina Magdangal and more artistas – these are all fantastic ways to completely have a blast out of your usual grind! And I WORE LACES! Which is the most amazing part of the story btw, because it screams total romance, and gives your entire outfit the feminine touch and sexiness we need sometimes.

Also: I greatly believe I’m beginning to develop my lace obsession and I presume I’ll be a lace FREAK within the span of 10 years.

Oh joy.  :]

Since it’s love, I almost always incorporate lace in my everyday wardrobe.  XD

In retrospect, I wore lace on my birthday!

During a dinner at Mann Hann with the fam bam..

While having a ride on Anchors Away at Enchanted Kingdom..

On parties with girlfriends..

While being the little vain monster that I am, lolz.

and Christmas last yearsss!

Personally, it’s so universal, and this still holds to be true since it’s almost the end of the year and instead of polka dots and rainbow brights, I think I’m wearing a celebratory lace top tonight!  :p

So I suggest: wear something lace~y this year you guys!!! – it never goes out of style. :3

Monday Fitness Classes In Ortigas

I HAD reaaally good time last night with my dance classes in Ortigas, and it has just only been 2 weeks. With Pole Fitness Classes and Vegas Strip, I now have reasons to love my Monday nights more at movement dance studio. The PAIN has to be shared with Vanessa  though,  because we both just love dance injuries. HAHAH. Juggling work and THAT is seriously a mammoth task. BUT there is some good news: with her I don’t have to attend dance classes alone.

PLUS! THIS IS FACTUAL: you lose more weight when you work out with a friend!

I guess I wanted to make sure I’m still around dancing with familiar faces; I tend to act a little fruity with people whom IDK personally. The  dancemates, luckily, were gorgeousness in their own rights, and they are really friendly human beings, too. HAHAH.:3

But either way, I’m happy to be a dance student dancing with new people. It gets me into the groove of whirling and twirling or shaking of sorts. Hah.

My dance friends are the hottest ever (that’s right – we’re the hottest Vegas Ortigas strippers, LOL) leftmost is my Salinggawi batchmate, Vanessa. and in the middle is Geh, our super sexxay dance teacher.

For this particular photo, I had to hold my breathing for 5 secs to be in form! You will want to laugh at whatever you’re seeing atm, but I advise: DO NOT. She is INNOCENT (and we’re rly sry!)

We’re not too exhausted yet, I swear! My whole entire physical self is NOT exhausted yet, I REPEAT. And that being said, pole dance classes again tomorrow. I have a long week ahead, but this is a challenge I must take up — so YES, we’ll see. XD

Dear lungs: don’t fail me.

P.S. payday tomorrow: It’s going to be lots of shopping, coz I’ll be selling clothes in FB. HAHAH. Stay tuned!

Toodles! :]

My First Pole Dancing Class

Hello guys!

It’s rare that I take a brain vacation this long even before I bought my own domain (sidneyland.com). However, in the past three days that’s exactly what happened. I was swamped with work, affected with this disease that caused me to cough and gurgle most of the time and it was totally gross and disgusting. But just being able to dance again was enough to get my pulse racing and my juices flowing, so I eagerly tried a new hobby: Pole Dancing. On my first try, I must say it was exceptionally beautiful. I had to do it slowly and prettily, though (as what my pole dancing teacher has told me in class, LOL).

Here’s some of my first pole dancing class photos with my friend, Vanessa, who also went with me to try the unlimited dance classes offered by Movement Dance Studio Philippines. (I am yet to attempt an advance pole move soon, so don’t expect much on these photos, please!)

Yeah.. this video made me want to try Pole Dancing In The Philippines

And after looking at this vid I bet you first thought Ciara Sotto was gonna fall face first onto the flat ground. HAHAH. But she didn’t. She was SPECTACULAR, and as a matter of fact too damn good. The workload seems pretty light. But then again after watching this a few times I’m thoroughly conviced that I should be stretching my human body each day into painful ways to be able to do this MY GOODNESS.

that being said, POLE DANCING is delicious. let’s freakin face that, people.

this is actually the first time that I got hooked to something and I’m willing to try at once.

So this morning, I decided: choose a pole dancing studio in the Philippines to enroll.

And I confess: Monday’s gonna be a tough day for me because I enrolled right away! :D   srsly, for a serious class.

I chose to enroll at Movement Dance Studio, among others (Pole Fitness association of the Philippines and Pole academy Phils). Mainly because I learned it was the very studio where Ciara Sotto learned every bend and break. YAY. :D

So right now, people, all you can hope for is that I don’t get into serious trouble again.

I welcome giant bruises, though.

But something in me tells that I’m not getting those alone but something more.  OH NOES. Good thing I’ll share the pain with my friend Vanessa HAHAH.

So wish us luck!

(And please encourage me effectively because I know Pole dancing is going to be tough on Monday, but nowhere near as hard as becoming my flexible (and strong) self once again)

Slimmer’s World Grand Aero Fusion 2010

If there’s one exciting dance competition held every year, it surely isn’t the UAAP cheerdancing thing — it’s the Slimmer’s World Grand Aero Fusion. Why? Because for one thing, it’s participated by 13 branches around the country, including one center from southern Cebu (which is actually bigger compared to UAAP’s participants around the metro of 8 schools only) but I’m not really comparing — just saying. :D   The competition is that BIG.

Secondly, the odds of you winning this competition with your combination of aerobics and dancing is really  high yet one that will really challenge your might and skills. With a must-follow routine of the aerobics protocol (warm-ups, stretching, aero proper and cool down), I was challenged myself that even I couldn’t believe I have competed for 3 years already! And this year, ten branches battled it out at the Market! Market! activity center last September 10, 2010 to be hailed this year’s champion: Trafalgar, Sm City, Megamall, Pasig, Cebu, Legazpi, Adriatico, Alabang, Pasay Road and Caloocan. Imagine how big that scope is!

I, of course, repruhzent SM City!

Sadly, we didn’t win. But I’m happy to announce that partaking in this event has been worth it, nevertheless. Actually, I don’t think it was ever a competition – it was more of, say, an outlet for joy. Joy in its purest form that I really didn’t mind about the whole winning and accepting-a-defeat-thing, what mattered only was to be able to dance my heart out and share my talent with the world. Only that. And that only.

Anyhoo, the more important  thing is that we did our best and I danced with truly awesome people!  The friendship we built in that entire 2 months of blood, sweat and tears  for prepping up was a little unforgettable experience.  And we shall do better next time. Everybody took  aerodancing a notch higher and they all had nice choreography and were very synchronized with their steps. You must work together as a team… now that’s something we need to work on. For our battle on the dance floor next year. :D

Again, Congratulations to Slimmer’s World Legaspi for being the champion of this event!  Cebu for being the 1st runner-up and Greenhills as 2nd runner-up!

And thanks to my lovely parents and friends who was there to watch us, it was something I truly appreciate!

P.S. In retrospect, the UAAP cheerdance competition is another past life experience that I had, which for me has been truly awesome.  But I must say I enjoyed the dance competition within Slimmer’s World more. :)

Enjoy the photos and vids!

Also, I got interviewed by the media! They asked me how we prepared for the routine and what’s it like. I said it took us nearly 2 months of practice in preparation of our routine. And our dance was fused with hiphop, jazz, belly, and hi-lo workouts.

As an opening number, the managers from the different centers of Slimmers World danced to Shakira’s Waca Waca led by Yen Lopena (2008 Slimmers World Miss Bikini Bodies and Manager of Face and Skin Clinic Alabang). This showcases to the audience the special aerobics concerts Slimmers World offers every month featuring an artists with the latest or greatest dance songs.

I will upload our dance competition video soon, so stay tuned!

Here’s what I learned:

  1. If one could readily have what he truly wanted, then life would be too easy. Too easy that everybody wins the competition.
  2. Joining dance competitions is completely awesome, but the stress in betweens, is total headache (and of massive proportions, mind you).
  3. If you will strain your physical self with stress for weeks, make sure you have the right skills.
  4. Skills such as having a functioning schedule of vitamin intakes, carbo-loading meals at many times of the day, loads of sleep, and weekend massage classes in your bed  to prevent your body from withering with wide black circles under the eyes and painful asthma attacks in the mix. (yeah, that complicated)
  5. There are wonders in power napping, anytime at anywhere. Get it when you can.
  6. The things you love to do never really drain your energy. You will always have the drive for it.
  7. That there are people out there who will really support you.  A loving family who’s got non-stop support!
  8. And even with zero wins, you get a bag of freebies: non-fat milk, Ellipse collogne, bottles of Colgate Plax and shaving stuff, HAHA. (these are our consolation prizes!)
